With his band Orwell, Lorraine native Jérôme Didelot has been a recognized craftsman of French-speaking indie pop since the 2000s. He has sometimes ventured into English for a few covers (the mini-album Sunny Songs For Winter at Christmas 2020 among others). He has also had Scottish Isobel Campbell and Japanese Sugar Me sing in French on his side project Son Parapluie. However, for once, Orwell's new album will this time be entirely in English. And for good reason, as he explains in detail below, it is in the discography of Simple Minds that he went to draw, more precisely the early 80s: "Sons and Fascination / Sisters Feelings Call" (81), New Gold Dream (82) and Sparkle In the Rain (84). A pivotal and incredibly productive period for Jim Kerr's band. And what does it matter if Simple Minds hardly has the support of an indie world not fond of "stadium rock": it would be in its best interest to look a little at these few little or unknown tracks, revised... in the Orwellian sauce!
