Review of The Sunsh!ne Beat Vol. 1 on the cool webzine Les Oreilles Curieuses. [...] Il ne fait aucun doute que Tahiti 80 sera considéré comme étant les Beachy Boys de l’Hexagone. Quatre ans après leur dernier album Ballroom et un album solo de la part du cerveau du groupe Xavier Boyer intitulé Some/Any/New paru l’an dernier, le groupe français est de retour pour transmettre des vibes survitaminées avec leur nouvel album intitulé The Sunsh!ne Beat Vol. 1. Une fois de plus, Tahiti 80 ne perd jamais en inspiration.

Interview of Xavier and Médéric for Soul Kitchen. [...] Sur ce disque on est revenu au noyau dur du groupe, et avec Andy Chase qui était là au début. Depuis que Sylvain est parti ça a un peu changé l’équilibre, nous n’avons plus le studio de répétition et nous utilisons plus de boites à rythmes, et Raphael vient se greffer. Son planning ne nous permet pas de travailler à l’ancienne en répétant beaucoup ensemble, il a d’autres projets.

[...] Et il y a de quoi faire bouger son corps sur cet album : de l’inaugural Let Me Be Your Story, au très funky Let Me Be Your Story, en passant par le single totalement irrésistible qu’est Sound Museum, ou encore le très groovy Wonderboy, le trio a rassemblé ici une dizaine de titres baignés de sonorités électroniques qui viennent apporter un peu plus de rondeur à des chansons qui n’en manquent pourtant pas à la base. Des titres tous taillés pour être des hits potentiels. [...]
