“ Tous les avenirs from Orwell offers an endless summer “ Jean-Daniel Beauvallet (Les Inrocks)
In concert with Jonathan Coe at the festival Le livre sur la place, September 13, 2015.
Formed at the dawn of the 2000s, Orwell led a discreet but honorable international career. Five albums distributed worldwide were released. And then their orchestral and francophone pop won valuable fans, including the british writer Jonathan Coe who has selected Orwell songs in multiple playlists, including on the BBC.
On the occasion of the release of the new album, "Exposition Universelle", the band will also give an happening concert with the author of "The Terrible Privacy of Maxwell Sim" at the book festival Le livre sur la place in Nancy, Sunday, September 13.
The four years of silence since the release of their latest album "Continental" have not been a period of inactivity. Besides Orwell concerts in France, Germany, Great Britain or Spain, Jérôme Didelot contributed to the recording of the second album of his friend and comrade Alexandre Longo aka Cascadeur, "Ghost Surfer", which returns the favor in co-signing the arrangements on "Rengaine Européenne".
Orwell has joined the Japanese team Rallye Label (Au Revoir Simone, The Whitest Boy Alive ...) that had the premiere of the new album "Exposition Universelle" in the summer of 2015. The japanese edition includes a song arranged by Louis Philippe and a cover of David Sylvian & Ryuichi Sakamoto, “Taking Islands in Africa”. The band will also be in Tokyo in October to give two concerts there.
