Son Parapluie

A charming getaway!

12th June 2022

Read at Froggy's Delight: [...] The concept is excellent, the result a success. The music evokes the Paris of the 60s, with all that that implies in terms of colors and references, a certain idea of style and refinement, and Isobel Campbell, who sings delicately with a nice sense of phrasing, in French (ah these British singers and their little accent that the French like so much!) or in a duet with Jérôme Didelot (in the sympathetic Je ne finis rien) is like a ray of sunshine after the rain. 12th June 2022

Sunderland Echo says this about the record of Son Parapluie: "Summer in the UK may not quite arrived, but when it does this could be the ideal soundtrack"! Thank you Stuart McHugh.

Rather personal obsessions

12th June 2022

Review on Musiczine. [...] Between these texts and the music a dialogue is established, where the instrumental developments are so many tracking shots, long descriptions, where the structure of the songs is narrative. [...]

Beautiful and lightweight

5th June 2022

Thank you Cultures Co ! [...] The first part looks like a well-made pop rock and above all embellished by the voice of Isobel Campbell from Belle et Sebastian, sung in very good French, please. The remixes are provided by monuments: Jah Wobble, ex PIL, and Martin Carr, ex Boo Radleys, which is not nothing. [...]

Creative and luminous dilettantism

2nd June 2022

Elegant review of Paris n'existe pas at Magic rpm. [...] Refined, literate and simple, the songs of Son Parapluie are full of surprises, silky and discreet arrangements and winks, here the Carpenters, there the Rings Around the World (2001) of the Super Furry Animals . [...]

Atypical album

29th May 2022

La Presse de la Manche presents Paris n'existe pas... [...] Without giving up her British accent, Isobel Campbell sings of her love for France in the language of Molière, playing the card of melancholy and unfinished cultural dreams [...]

Highlighting melodic charm

29th May 2022

In Le Monde, they love Social Kaleidoscope! [...] Two possible sources of Maurussane in his album Social Kaleidoscope, like the dreamy pop of the American Brent Cash, a bit of Todd Rundgren, in its most lyrical part and not in its virtuoso developments. [...]

A first album that has everything of a pop dream

27th May 2022

Amazing review of Social Kaleidoscope on Indiepoprock! [...] A masterful work, carried by an obvious – and stunning – beauty, dynamited by a mad energy, it represents a kind of perfect musical syncretism. And settles in like a major disc, which we are sure to listen to again for a long time to go around. [...]
